is a sort of seventh son, born with a veil, and gifted with
second-sight in this american world, a world which yields him no
true self-consciousness, but only lets him see himself through the

- w.e.b. dubois,
souls of black folks
parables of mutants
and madmen
is an extended group piece that enacts altered states of cultural
awareness while embodying symmetrical needs for belonging and
independence as well as for acceptance and rejection. a
collection of individual short works, parables... explores
w.e.b. dubois' concept of african-american double consciousness and
its effects on love, unity, and identity. during longer
residencies, local dancers are added to the cast in an effort to
meld and dialogue with the community at-hand. parables...
has been re-choreographed and now incorporates excerpts of charles
o. anderson's earlier works to provide a more comprehensive
'introduction' to his aesthetics, sensibilities and movement style.
